Packing and Storing Tips

• Use pallets on the floor of your storage space to keep your items clean and protected.
• Mark boxes with breakables as "fragile". Then, don't drop them.
• Label every box with its contents and it's room.
• Spread the weight of heavy items over several boxes.
• Use smaller boxes for heavier items and larger boxes for light items.
• Wrap mirrors in bubble wrap and stand them on end on a pallet between mattresses.
• Disassemble anything you can and tape nuts and bolts to the piece of furniture they go with.
• Use new, uniformly sized boxes. New boxes will be clean and pest-free.
• Avoid using plastic garbage bags for storage, as they can promote mildew.
• Drawers: they're not just for socks anymore! Fill them to the brim!
• Make a list of items you're putting in storage. Avoid worrying whether you stored or lost your items.
